Bio PPE Donning and Doffing Workshop

Presented by the DelValle Institute for Emergency Preparedness, this half-day training will focus on the realities of primary care and proper infection control for emerging infectious diseases (EID).

The purpose of this workshop is to provide practical experience to community health center and ambulatory care staff in donning and doffing of bio-personal protective equipment (PPE). In addition to wearing bio-PPE, participants will also gain awareness of best practices for donning and doffing officer team leaders.

The session will include the following topics:
- 90-minute module on EID and PPE: This awareness-level module will review core concepts related to PPE in the community health center environment, and then delve deeper into the topic of EID and PPE, including best practices related to PPE selection and respiratory protection programs.

- 90-minute module on PPE donning and doffing: This module will provide hands-on experience on donning and doffing appropriately selected PPE to a maximum of 24 participants, with additional roles for participant observers.

CEUs available for nursing staff. This program was designed to meet the requirements of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing, 244 CMR 5.00 for 3.6 contact hours of nursing continuing education.

Community Health Centers; other outpatient care providers; Clinical and Non-Clinical staff that interact with patients.
